- Ghusl (Islamic Washing)
“Whoever washes a deceased and conceals what they see, Allah will forgive them forty major sins.”
Hadith (Ibn Majah)
At Janazah Australia, we perform Ghusl, the Islamic ritual washing of the deceased, with complete adherence to the Sunnah and deep respect for the sanctity of the body.
What Is Ghusl?
Ghusl is a sacred obligation and a final act of care for a fellow Muslim. It involves washing the entire body in a specific way, using clean water and natural materials such as camphor or lotus leaves, as practiced by the Prophet ﷺ. This process purifies the body and prepares the deceased for Kafan (shrouding) and Janazah Salah (funeral prayer).
Carried Out With Dignity and Expertise
Our trained team, consisting of practicing Muslims, handles the Ghusl process with modesty, discretion, and professionalism. Men wash men, and women wash women, as prescribed in Islamic law. Every step is done with care, love, and du’a.
Involvement of Family
Where appropriate and desired, family members are welcome to observe or participate in the Ghusl. We provide guidance and emotional support during the process, ensuring it is a moment of honour, healing, and spiritual reflection.
Why Ghusl Matters
This sacred act is not merely a ritual — it is an expression of our faith, our compassion, and our trust in Allah’s mercy. Ghusl reflects the belief that just as Muslims live with dignity, they should also be returned to their Lord with respect.
